ACT 48 Provider

PAIRR University and The State of Pennsylvania

On November 23,1999 ACT 48 was signed into law and enacted new requirements for professional education in the State of Pennsylvania. This legislation requires that all certified educators complete six college credits, six credits of continuing professional education courses, 180 clock hours of continuing professional education, or any combination of collegiate studies, continuing professional education courses or learning experiences equivalent to 180 hours every five years.
Our course, Promoting Positive Racial Teacher Student Classroom Relationships, is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for ACT 48 hours as of April 2, 2020. The hours spent in this 12-week course is the equivalent to three collegiate credits or 90 ACT 48 professional development hours.
Our classes pay off for educators by helping them to:
  • Partially fulfill Act 48 requirements
  • Develop classroom and whole school initiatives that eliminate the perception of racism in schools
  • Eliminate possible negative media associated with racism accusations
  • Enjoy more time teaching and less time disciplining students
  • Learn leadership principles that minimize racial clashes in the classroom and school
  • Create plans that minimize organizational obstacles that contribute to racism in schools
  • Design plans for maintaining trusting racial relationships in the classroom and school
